April 20, 2026 - Report


The CDC has updated its data visualization to include a more traditional color scheme for their heat map. Its previous color scheme with 5 shades of blue was misleading, and we had requested a change for over 2 years. We are testing the use of the new CDC color scheme, which will have several practical advantages in the weeks ahead, including helping distinguish PMC from the CDC based on prevalence estimates rather than map color and providing more state-level infographics (coming soon). See pg. 2 of last week's report for a breakdown of the new CDC color scheme.
